| | To help support ACA and to join in the celebration of our 40th year, we encourage you to purchase a t-shirt, sweatshirt or both.
The 40th Anniversary logo appears on both the t-shirt and sweatshirt designs.
The child-sized t-shirt is available in white. The adult-sized t-shirt is available in white or black. The adult-sized sweatshirt is available in black.
The child-sized t-shirts are $12 each and adult-sized t-shirts are $15 each. The sweatshirts are $35 each for ACA members and $40 each for non-members.
Proceeds from the sale of the t-shirts and sweatshirts go towards supporting ACA's programs and services.

Class of 2013 High School Scholarship Awards | |
We have received 34 nominations for the Class of 2013 academic scholarships being offered by ACA, the Detroit Chinese Engineers Association (DCEA), and the Council of Asian Pacific Americans (CAPA). The essay phase of the judging process is approaching. The essay form will be sent out under separate cover to each nominee at the end of summer. In the interview phase, each nominee will be required to express their college plans and career goals in a 15-minute interview with the High School Achievement Awards Scholarship Committee to be held on Sunday, October 14, 2012. Each finalist will receive a certificate, and the scholarship recipients may each receive a scholarship award of between $500 and $1,000. The decision of the committee is final.
Qualified individuals will be recognized and the scholarship recipients will be announced at the ACA High School Achievement Awards Dinner on Sunday, December 9, 2012.
ACA has proudly offered scholarships for the past 28 years.

Mid-Autumn Festival Fri., September 28 at 10am Join us in celebrating the Moon Festival (Mid-Autumn Festival). Program details to come. Tickets are $5 for a general ticket and $3 for seniors 60 years and older and children under 10 years old.
Our Senior Club is 7 years old and going strong. To mark this anniversary there will be special performances followed by a catered lunch. Tickets are $4 for a general ticket and $2 for seniors 60 years and older or children under 10 yrs. old. We acknowledge and thank our dedicated volunteers who have helped us throughout the year. Program includes entertainment & Chinese dinner. Tickets are $6 for a general ticket and $4 for seniors 60 years and older or children under 10 years old. A review of the past year's programs and achievements will be presented along with a Treasurer's report. Nominees will also be elected to the ACA Board. Niagara Falls Outing Recap

About 60 people enjoyed this wonderful outing to Niagara Falls, which included seeing the historic crossing of the Falls on a tight rope by Nik Wallenda. Stops during the trip included an Amish village in Ohio and while in Niagara Falls the group shopped at Fashion Outlets, visited a casino, took a boat tour, went to the Cave of the Winds and Niagara Museum. Vincent Chin 30 Year Remembrance Event Recap

| Over 120 people attended the 30 year remembrance event held at our Chinese Community Center on June 23rd. Our keynote speaker was Frank H. Wu (Chancellor and Dean, Universaity of California Hastings Law School). OCA Executive Director Tom Hayashi participated in one of our panel discussions and also in the web streaming live feed.
About 40 people attended the grave site ceremony at Forest Lawn Cemetary in Detroit presided over by Pastor Karsun Wong of the Chinese Alliance Church. A poetry reading was performed by poet Emily Lawsin of the University of Michigan. The service ended with flowers being laid at the graves of Vincent Chin and his mother Lily Chin.
Our event was one of numerous events held around the country including events in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Philadelphia, Austin, and Hawaii. A special web streaming live session was also conducted that linked all the on-going events for a shared discussion period.

About 90 people attended this fun event on June 29th which included a folk dance performance, senior choir performances and other singing and cultural performances, zongzhi raffles and a catered lunch of Chinese food.
