Veterans Commemorative Plaque Unveiled at CCC

On Veterans Day, a commemorative plaque listing 145 names of Chinese American veterans from Michigan and the greater Toldeo area was unveiled during an emotional dedication ceremony at the Chinese Community Center (CCC). The placque is on permanent display in the front hall of CCC.

Members of AMVET Chinese American Post 85 are organizing a fundraising campaign for the second phase: a display screen for a video slideshow of photos and biographies of the veterans listed on the plaque. Names of Chinese American veterans from Michigan and the greater Toledo area are still being accepted for the plaque.

If you are interested in making a donation towards the video screen or wish to have the name of a veteran included on the plaque, please contact Andy Wong at 586-805-1008.

ACA's Thanksgiving Celebration
We'd like to express our gratitude to the generous donors and volunteers whose contributions helped us to serve 250 dinners at our successful Thanksgiving Celebration on November 21st.

In attendance were several low-income families who received complimentary dinners. Attendees enjoyed a traditional Thanksgiving dinner of turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, and stuffing along with rice noodles and fried rice. In the spirit of giving thanks, sixty volunteers were recognized and formally thanked for their dedicated support throughout the year.
