Entering the 14th year, our summer camp provides connection opportunities for local youth to embrace the Chinese culture.  From language, calligraphy, traditional painting, drama, cooking, arts and crafts, folk dance and music, our camp provides a wide range of learning opportunities for youth from kindergarten through 8th grade to appreciate the beauty of the Chinese culture and other diverse cultures.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

2013 Camp Canton

Location: Living Word Church, 46500 North Territorial Road, Plymouth, MI 48170

07/15-08/02: Cultural Day Camp (3-week program, Monday-Friday, 9AM-3:30PM) 
Kids of all ages are able to experience a variety of cultural activities that not only give them additional skills, but also enable them to appreciate Chinese culture.

2013 ACA Summer Camp Counselor Information

We are looking for energetic and enthusiastic camp counselors who will continue to make our youth summer camp a success. Lead and Assistant Counselor (limited openings for paid position; $7-9 per hour; maximum 30 hrs. per week)

Qualifications:

• Must turn 16 before 06/01/2013
• Volunteering experience with ACA summer camp preferable
• Passion to interact with young children through structured camp activities
• Good teaching skills
• Team work experiences
• Good management and communication skills
• Proactive working attitude
• Responsible and organized
• Flexible to volunteer as needed
• Mandarin language ability preferable
• Computer skills (Microsoft Office, Movie Maker)
• Special talents in music, drama, arts and crafts, dance an sport areas prefereable

Counselor helper (volunteer only)

Qualifications:

• Must turn 15 before 06/01/2013
• Passion to interact with young children through structured camp activities
• Interested in exploring Chinese culture
• Responsible and organized
• Desire to be a team player
• Mandarin language ability preferable
• Can follow and pass on instructions well
