Lantern Festival

To mark the end of the Chinese New Year celebrations, ACA is presenting the 2011 Lantern Festival on Saturday, February 19, from 11:00AM-3:00PM at the Chinese Community Center in Madison Heights.
This free event is open to the community. This family-friendly event will include traditional foods served during New Year, folk arts, and a variety of entertainment performances by community individuals and groups.

Our Detroit Drop-In Center has moved | |
We are excited to announce that our Drop-In Service Center has moved to new offices on Woodward Avenue, close to the Wayne State University campus. Our offices are located on the 2nd floor of the Hannan House, which houses twelve other non-profit organizations.
Staff members were busy in December packing up the Peterboro offices and moving during the holidays. We wish to thank the volunteers who came to help during the move.
We are settling in and will soon hold an Open House to show off the new Drop-In Center offices. In the meantime, if you're in the area, please stop in and say hi. The new address is:

Lunar New Year Dinner 2011 |

ACA is celebrating the Year of the Rabbit on Saturday, February 12, 2011, at 6:00PM at the Golden Harvest Restaurant (6880 E. 12 Mile Rd., Warren, MI 48092).
A ten-course authentic Chinese gourmet dinner will be served. The evenings program will include the swearing in of the new ACA Board members, entertainment, an auction and raffle.
Sponsorship Tables are available for $500 and sponsors will be given about 5 minutes to speak at the dinner. Tickets are:

38th Anniversary Celebration Banquet was a success | |
ACA held its 38th Anniversary Celebration Banquet on October 15, 2010 at the beautiful Glen Oaks Country Club in Farmington Hills.
Included in the over 200 guests were political dignitaries, and local government officials. DTE Energy was presented the Outstanding Corporate Excellence Award for supporting ACA. Tracey Fu, Brian Lu, R.J. Quiambao, Shirley Shue, and Anna Zhang each received an Outstanding Youth Counselor Award for their dedicated work during the 2010 Youth Cultural Summer Camp.
Keynote speaker, Dr. John Brender (Director of the Confucius Institute at Wayne State University), gave a lively presentation on the Institute. Musical entertainment was provided by Sean Chen and Jonathan Swift sang several renditions of some Frank Sinatra standards. The evening was capped off with dancing. A wonderful time was enjoyed by all.

ACA High School Achievement Awards Banquet | |
We held our 27th Annual High School Achievement Awards Banquet on December 5, 2010.
Keynote speaker, Stephanie L. Chang (President of APIAVote-Michigan and ACA Board Member) gave inspirational advice to the honorees to really experience and make the most of this next stage in their lives. After enjoying a ten-course dinner, 17 honorees were recognized and scholarships ranging from $500 to $1,000 were awarded to eight of the honorees.
